Ukwuani Council Staff Multi-Purpose Society Realised N11, 422,901.47 in 2013

The President of the Ukwuani Local Government Council Staff Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society Limited Obiaruku, Mr. Uboh Edwin who was recently returned unopposed as the President of the Association having performed to expectations has commended his fellow co-operators for their steadfastness and commitment to duties over the years.

Mr. Uboh who delivered his speech on the occasion of the 7th Annual General meetings of the Ukwuani Local Government Council Staff Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society Limited Obiaruku held at the courtyard of the Council’s Secretariat, said his success story was made possible due to the collaborative efforts of his executive officers and fellow co-operators who gave them the enabling environment to operate.

The President announced to other co-operators that during the year under review, the society realized a net surplus of N11,422,901.47 as compared to the N8,023,010.54 in 2012 as he on behalf of the management committee, thanked Almighty God for granting them the grace, wisdom, understanding, strength and courage to attain this level of success so far.

He also appreciated the management committee of Ukwuani Local Government Council, most especially the Executive Chairman, Hon. Chris Ochor, HPM, Treasurer and their banks for their services during the year under review, while also appreciating NULGE chairman and the officer in charge of salary who did not rest on their oars in ensuring the progress of the society including the area co-operative officer of Ukwuani Local Government Area Mr. OgberahweFelix.

Mr. Uboh revealed that the primary objective of establishing co-operative societies is all about the welfare of members, as the supply of Xmas rice and groundnut oil which has become a tradition was successfully carried out in the year under review as plans are on to add tomatoes, magi and other cooking condiments in the fourth coming season.

He noted that the Min-Mark which is the first baby of this administration has come to stay and will continue to serve them better, urging them to see it as “Our” supermarket and not “their” supermarket, pointing out that other welfare services such as granting of household loans, car loans were at top gear as many cooperatives are now proud car owners.

He revealed too that more hectares of land were acquired and allotted to members through ballot in the year under review, and gradually, it will go round all co-operators as those that have succeeded now will not ballot the subsequent ones as he enjoined all owners of such landsthat  theyarethecustodians  of their plot of land.

Mr. Uboh reminded them that it is unfortunate to state that during the year under review, they lost some prominent members of the great society to the cold hands of death and in spite of the above losses, the society kept on soaring numerically and at the end of the financial year 31st December, 2013 the membership strength was 364 just as he promises to work hard for the upliftment of the society in his acceptance speech, having been returned unopposed including all other officers of the society for their hard work.

The Delta State Area Cooperator for Ukwuani Local Government Area, Mr Felix Ogberahwe commended the cooperators for their hard work and commitment to duty, while advising them to do everything possible to increase their saving to enable them earn more dividends each year.
