Delta State Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama, SAN
Delta State Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama, SAN, has advised socio-cultural organizations in the state to have sufficient social functions in order to enhance peace and unity.
Prof. Utuama gave the advice at the Thanksgiving Service/Luncheon party organized by the Isoko Development Union (IDU), at Igbide, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State.
The state Deputy Governor noted that insufficient social functions have continued to affect the unity of the people. “I think we do not have time to celebrate ourselves sufficiently, we do not create enough platforms for us as a people to socialize. And we only socialize in wrong places, hence we are finding it difficult to have the desired unity among ourselves” Prof. Utuama stated.
Prof. Utuama who commended the President General of Isoko Development Union, IDU, Major General Paul Omo, OFR and his exco for the initiative of the luncheon party, urged them not to relent as this will continue to promote peace and unity in Isoko nation.
According to him; ” I want to encourage you, do not give up, the more of this social functions we have, the more unity and understanding we are going to have as a people, as a state and as a nation.”
He commended the Isoko nation for the support they have given to the state government over the years and urged them to continue to support the Peoples` Democratic People Party (PDP) controlled government in the state.
Prof. Utuama, described General Omo as an Officer of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who have served more meritoriously in various capacity in the Army and in government, noting that being President of IDU is a wise choice by the Isoko nation.
The President General of Isoko Development Union (IDU), Major General Paul Omo, rtd, in his remark, noted the IDU is a sociocultural organization geared towards enhancing the peace, unity and development of the Isoko nation.
He used the occasion to called on all Isoko sons and daughters in the state to remain united and peaceful in their conduct, adding that IDU will continue to hold its A.G.M/Thanksgiving and Luncheon and brainstorm on issues affecting the Isoko nation in order to proffer positive solution.
