The apex body of the Ndokwa people, Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU), in a recent publication had carried out what many had called a bold decision the first ever as it relates to Ndokwa politics and development.
In the paid publication which appeared on page 12 of the Vanguard Newspaper of January 7, 2015, NNU published the decision of the Ndokwa People after a meeting held on the 31 of December, 2014 to examine the outcome of the party primaries where no Ndokwa son or daughter emerged as party bearer of any of the political parties in the state.
In the publication, the NNU accused the persons of Dr Ossai N. Ossai, member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Dr. Alphonsus Ojo, member representing Ukwuani LGA at the State House of Assembly, Mr. Azuka Azaka, member representing Ndokwa West LGA at the State House of Assembly, Barr Benedicta Ndudi Osakuni-Izugbu, Chairman Ukwuani LGA and Mrs Nkechi Chukwurah Chairman, Ndokwa East LGA, for sabotaging the development of Ndokwa politically.
The publication which started with a background of the just concluded and past governorship primaries in the state, highlighted at various stage and time, how the people of Ndokwa were deprived of the opportunities to govern the state, since 2003.
The NNU in the publication, which was signed by the President-General, Pharm Paul Enebeli, the Secretary General, Chief Terry Otuya, and the Public Relation officer, Chief Mrs Philomena Egwuenu, stated that “No nation can achieve her objective if there is no unity of purpose. In the same token, no nation can attain any greatness or a meaningful level of development if leaders are selfish and conceited”, the statement added.
In announcing the sanctions, the body stated that these individuals have brought shame to the Ndokwa people and desecrated Ndokwa land”, and at such, they were forbidden to attend any event organised by NNU or events organised by friends of Ndokwa nation.
The statement further stated that the individuals do not appear to represent Ndokwa people in any political capacity, but themselves in all three tier of government.
It went further to state, that no recognition or courtesies should be extended to the individuals in all Ndokwa related publications.
The sanctions which is with immediate effect, advised all sons and daughters of Ndokwa not to cast their votes in favour of the named persons.

In a reaction to the NNU publication, the member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representative, Dr. Ossai Nicolas Ossai has said that prior to the party primaries, he severally called on the apex body to come out with a consensus candidate from the many aspirants especially from the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), who the Ndokwa people will support, but this was not done by the executive of the body.
Dr. Ossai told Ndokwa Reporters that “It will be unfair for the NNU to accuse them of truncating the Ndokwa Agenda, when there was no one to support or directive from the body of whom the Ndokwa people should support to produce the next governor of Delta State”.
NNU is Now Political-Azaka

In a related development, the member representing Ndokwa West LGA, Hon Azuka Azaka, told Ndokwa Reporters in a telephone chat that the publication is political in nature as the apex body of the Ndokwa people which is a socio-cultural, and a pressure body of the people of Ndokwa is now being used to hunt the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ndokwa nation.
Hon Azaka, said that for the body to state that the “People of Ndokwa should not vote for them, they are equally saying they should not vote for the PDP in Ndokwa Nation in the forth coming election”, he concluded.

On her reaction, the Executive Chairman of Ndokwa East LGA, Mrs Nkechi Chukwurah saw the publication as that of falsehood as in no time did she worked against the NNU or the people of Ndokwa politically.
Affirming what Dr Ossai Ossai said, the Chairman who spoke with us from Lagos said that the NNU never gave them any directive which they fraught, but they were to aligned with the body, but this never happened as there was no particular aspirants who they were told to support among the numerous Ndokwa aspirants, especially under the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), and concluded that the “publication and allegation was not right”.

For Hon Alphonsus Ojo and Barr Benedicta Ndudi Osakuni-Izugbu, Ndokwa Reporters could not get their direct reaction as Hon Ojo cell phone for the two days was reading either busy or not reachable at the time of going to press, however, his Personal Assistant, Mr Monday Ibobo told Ndokwa Reporters that they are waiting as events unfolds, but a very close associates of the Honourable told Ndokwa Reporters that he is already thinking of counter publication.

Responding on behalf of the Executive Chairman of Ukwuani LGA, Barr Mrs Benedicta Ndudi Osakuni-Izugbu, the Special Assistance, Mr Azuka Enujeke said that they will respond at the appropriate time.
However, the publication which had garnered serious discuss among the Ndokwa people, saw a divided opinion of supporters of both the apex body and the sanctioned Ndokwa sons and daughters. While many see it as a welcome development, and a wakeup call to elected and appointed representatives from Ndokwa land to see Ndokwa as their first priority when in office, others who are against the sanctions and publication see it as a target on the ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
How, whatever divide the opinion may be, the general opinion is that being an election year, the publication may be a campaign issue for all the political parties, as three of the affected persons are candidates of their party in the forthcoming election in February, 2015, as a prominent member of the ruling party, who refused to be mentioned put it “these allegations will be issues during the campaign for the 2015 election, especially to the state Houses of Assembly and Federal House of Representatives. They cannot be wished away”, he said.
