Hired Labourers Cleaning the Drainage.

The Oshimili South Local Government area of Delta State, on saturday, August 15, 2015 led Hon. Chuks Obusom embark on serious sanitation programme as part of directives from the Commissioner of Environment Hon. John Nanni to clear the state off filthiness.
The Chairman said the exercise became necessary because the state government felt the state is becoming too dirty and something need to be done to arrest the downward movement of the whole state to a state of danger.
The Chairman who came out early to monitor the clean-up exercise, stated that cleanliness leads to godliness, and as such, the capital city should be kept clean to avoid outbreak of diseases and unpleasant odours, adding that residents should stop dumping refuses on the street and the drainage in order to allow easy flow of water and to control flooding of the capital city.

The Chairman, who came out for the exercise with the Legislative Council led by the leader of the legislative arm of the local council, Hon. Ebodi Eluaka harped on the need for sensitization programme to enable residents to always keep their environment clean and also take part in government programmes on sanitation.
The local council officials frowned at the attitudes of residents who are waiting for government to do everything for them as no resident were seen for the exercise, but through the efforts of hired services.
The council chairman, Hon. Chuks Obusom warned residents to make sure that they partake in the future sanitation exercise and concluded, that there will be enforcement policy that will bring offenders to book, and he equally warned street hawkers to ensure that wastes that emanated in the period of their sales should be properly disposed.
