Fulani Cattle Herdsmen and their Animals in a farm Land
The people of Onitcha Ukwuani in Ndokwa west LGA, of Delta are now living in fear as the community is reported to had been invaded by Fulani Cattle Herdsmen, leading to death of members of the community.
According to an information reaching us from the community, the trouble started when the cattle herdsmen allowed their animals to stray into the community farm lands leading to the destruction of many of the crops in the farms.
However, an unconfirmed report from the community said that the villagers took laws into their hands and attacked the herdsmen, leading to the death of one of them, on Sunday, August, 23, 2015, and on Monday, August 24, 2015 the herdsmen regrouped and came for a revenge mission, thus resulting to shooting and adoption of some community members.
Also, report reaching Ndokwa Reporters, said that in the midst of the fight between the community and the invaders, the police had so far recovered three bodies of the victims of the invasion, and their bodies deposited at the Kwale General Hospital Mortuary.
At the time of filling this report, efforts to get the Divisional Police office in the area to confirm the report was not possible as he was said to be out on an official assignment.
It must be noted that the issue of clash between the communities in Ndokwa and the cattle herdsmen had become a regular occurrence, as not quite long, the people of Ogume in the same LGA, were attacked.
Also, a notable son of Onicha Ukwuani, a one time member of the Delta State House of Assembly member, Hon. Ifemeni was almost killed by cattle herdsmen.
