Delta State: One Killed, Others Sustains Bullet Wounds as Asaba Youths Attacks Ibusa

One person was killed and several others injured as the people of Asaba attacked the people of Ibusa at Umuodafe Isiuzo farm land, where the immigration office is located.
Addressing the press today (10/10/15) at Asaba, Delta State, the National President of Ibusa Youth Council (IYC), Comrade Alfred Isoh decried the action, disclosing that but for his intervention, there would have been full blown war.
According to him, “it was on Friday when heavily armed youths from Asaba invaded our beach at Umuodafe Isiuzo, behind the Immigration office, shooting sporadically, because, our people were taken unaware, the people were just carrying out their daily chores to eke out a living when the attackers came, of course, the workers took to their heels but the pale loader operator, Christopher was not so lucky as he was killed on the spot.”
“Since yesterday, I have been going round to calm our people, believing that government will intervene but, it seems that government is handicapped as the Police have not responded,” he said.
Asked what they intend to do, Comrade Isoh said, “the people of Asaba have been making move to take over the area, we wrote petitions to the Police, we relied on the Police but, you see that the Police cannot protect us, we are watching, tension is high but, for how long? This is where some persons earn their living and we cannot continue to keep silence in the face of attack.”
“The body has been deposited in the General Hospital mortuary at Ibusa, the Police is aware of the incident, yet no arrest has been made, Christopher was somebody’s relation, someone’s friend and the land in question is where people work everyday to feed, our people wants justice,” he stated.
Attempts to get reactions from youth leaders in Asaba proved abortive as they promised to get detailed information before responding.
