Anioma Association USA, Georgia Chapter Set to Conduct Free Healthcare in Ndokwa Area of Delta State

ASABA/Nigeria: Anioma Association USA Incorporated, Georgia Chapter, a socio-cultural organisation of progressive Anioma indigenes and friends resident in the State of Georgia, today announced that its 2019 annual medical mission to Anioma, Delta State will commence on Friday 21 – Saturday 22, June, 2019 at the Kwale General Hospital, Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta, from 9.00am to 4.00pm daily with focus on children, youths, adults and the elderly.  

The Chairman of the medical mission committee, Dr. Sunny Nkemdiche, made this known in a press statement recently. He said that “the two-day free medical outreach being organised in collaboration with Anioma Medical Professionals Forum and with supports from others partners in America and Nigeria, is one of the many programmes of Georgia Chapter of Anioma Association USA designed to complement government efforts in the provision of quality healthcare for people at the grassroots and the development of Anioma, Delta State, Nigeria”.

Nkemdiche disclosed that the area of emphasis for this year’s medical mission will be on: health education on nutrition and hygiene, general health check, consultation, treatment of malaria, arthritis, diabetes, blood pressure, dental care, vision screening, distribution of drugs including pediatrics medication, de-worming tablets and corrective eye glasses etc.

The convener of Anioma Medical Professionals Forum, Dr. Alexander Awunor enjoined residents of Ndokwa with health challenges to take full advantage of this opportunity particularly the elderly by coming out on time for treatment by medical experts at no cost.   He said that his team of medical personnel in Nigeria is ready to synergize efforts with their colleagues from United States to cater for the medical need of people at the grassroots in Ndokwa area of Delta State.

In the same vein, the programme coordinator, Mr. Godfrey C. Osakwe, said that appropriate arrangements have been made to ensure a seamless healthcare delivery for resident of Ndokwa at this year’s medical outreach. “In fact we are targeting a minimum of 3000 patients within the first day of the programme with the possibility of an increase”. Accordingly, we are calling on well-meaning citizens within and outside Ndokwa area of Delta State to support this noble programme for the health benefits of people at the grassroots and Delta State in general” Osakwe declared.

The annual medical mission which began in 2018; with Asaba hosting the inaugural edition for Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency has continued to generate interest among the people with huge success records, as free consultation, drugs and corrective eyes glasses are distributed to all and sundry across the four local government areas that made up of Aniocha/Oshimili.

The Medical Outreach was introduced with the primary objective to promote the basic health needs of people at the grassroots and to help alleviate the health challenges of residents within Anioma region, in Delta State.  The association has as its long term objective, the establishment of Mobile Clinics with state of the art equipment for community free healthcare services in Anioma and Delta State in general and the establishment of functional primary health centres within Anioma communities and environs in years to come.
