EFFURUN/Nigeria: The Executive Chairman of Uvwie local government area, Hon. Ramson Onoyake has charged the pioneer graduating students of the Centre LSD leadership School, Effurun, Delta state, to be good ambassadors of the school, saying they should make themselves the centre of reference in the society to achieve the purpose for which the school was established.
Hon. Ramsome Onoyake, who was represented by his Special Adviser, Mr. Eyela Charles, at the 1st graduation ceremony and annual leadership lecture of the school, held at Heartland hotel, Effurun, on Saturday, 12th May 2018, gave the charge, even as he congratulated the students for taking their studies serious.
He commended the Director of the school, Pst. Edewor Egedegbe for his initiative to establish a tuition-free leadership school in Delta state to address the huge leadership challenges in the Niger-Delta and the Nigerian society.
In his address, the Director of LSD Leadership school in Delta state and Executive Director of Value Rebirth and Empowerment, Pst. Edewor Egedegbe, expressed joy that the school which started operations in June 2017 has had its first set of graduates after a rigorous academic work, adding that the second set of students are being matriculated.

He said the establishment of the school was borne out of the desire to fill the inept leadership gap identified across the Niger-Delta in particular, Nigeria, and, Africa, noting that leadership failure is a factor that has resulted in underdevelopment of Africa for many years.
In his speech, the Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Daniel Omoweh praised Pst. Edewor for using the leadership school to train professionals who would in turn impact the society positively with their leadership skills. The university don noted that the height of moral decadence and faulty leadership in the country demands that political leaders acquire leadership skills from leadership schools in order to equip them with the right values and knowledge to be good leaders.
On the same note, the founder of the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (LSD), Dr. Otive Igbuzor, lauded Pst.  Egedegbe for making a good effort towards transforming the society through the leadership school. He emphasized the benefit of leadership skills in the Nigerian society, even as he called on the public to avail themselves of the opportunity of acquiring leadership skills at the school free of charge.
Similarly, the keynote speaker, Dr. Charles Apoki, while delivering a lecture with theme: “Values, Leadership Failure and Development in the Niger-Delta” identified lack of moral values as bane of Niger-Delta development. Dr. Apoki charged the political leaders to think out of the box to be able to fix the perennial economic challenges in the country. The erudite speaker    stressed that good leadership is the driver of progressive development across the world, noting that where it is lacking, overall development of the people remains a mirage. He tasked the Niger-Delta youths on hard work, and entrepreneurial skills in order to stand at par with their contemporaries who are major players in the Nigerian economy.
