Clergy Men Urged To Uphold Ethics of Profession

ISELE-UKU/Nigeria: Clergy men have been called upon to uphold the ethics of the profession since humanity is looking up to them for a way out in this turbulent times.

The President of Providence Baptist Conference, Reverend Dr Nathan Thikan, made the call last Saturday in a sermon he delivered during the Ordination Service for five Ministers at the Pilgrim Baptist Church, Issele Uku.

Rev Thikan, whose message was titled “MINISTERS OF THE NEW COVENANT”, observed that although every believer is a minister, the ordination of ministers is for further service since they first of all have spiritual qualifications from God.

While urging the Ministers to be steadfast, Reverend Thikan urged the ordained ministers to assiduously follow the ways of God because they shall be distinguished through their quest for the revival and salvation of souls that are perishing.

Speaking on the need for spouses and other relations to support the ministers, he noted that for the ordained ministers to excel, they needed peaceful atmosphere from their loved ones.

Speaking after the ordination of the pastors, the President of Anioma Baptist Conference, Reverend Paul Anyasi, stated that the ordination is basically to elevate the Ministers into higher responsibilities and urged them to be role models for others to emulate.

Reverend Anyasi urged the churches whose pastors were ordained to rally round and ensure that the Ministers’ ministries were not compromised or jeopardized.

Highlight of the occasion was the ordination of the ministers led by Reverend Anyasi, presentation of Bibles to the ordained ministers as well as presentation of certificate of ordination.

Five pastors were ordained as reverends in the impressive ceremony that attracted a mammoth crowed to the epoch making event.

Among those that were ordained is Reverend Samuel Ugbaja, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Information, Delta State.
