Delta LGA Election: Ochor Affirms Process Credible, Commendable

UMUTU/Nigeria: The Delta State Local Government Election held last Saturday, January 6, 2018, had been described as credible and a commendable process, as the there was no incident prior, during and after the election in Ukwuani Local government Area.

The commendation was made by Hon Christopher Ochor Ochor, the Executive Director Social Services Development, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, (DESOPADEC), in Umutu after casting his vote, in the election where all the parties involved, maintained decorum, and ensured the Delta State Independent Election Commission, (DSEIC) got all the needed cooperation for the smooth conduct of the election.

Hon Ochor in reactions to questions from reporters said that DSEIC must be commended in the smooth handling of the election in the LGA, as materials where distributed to centres early and there was no incident of materials missing or been hijacked by persons.

“I have to thank DSEIC for a good job. Here in Ukwuani, right from the handling of the materials to this moment, the process has moved without hitch”.

He also commended the electorates for turning out to vote candidates of their choice.

“You can see the success of the election with the people coming to cast their votes, and those who had voted are waiting for it to be counted”.

The PDP Chieftain hailed the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for providing a level playing ground for all parties, and making logistics available for the conduct of the election.

Speaking on the effect of the election on the chances of the PDP in future elections in the area, he said that the party is getting stronger in the area, as they are no longer in the opposition, but the ruling party.

“We will continue to consolidate our position in the area. We had identified our past mistakes, and we had taken care of them”.

He however called on losers at the end of the election to join hand with the winner, as he predicted that the Peoples Democratic Party will sweep the Chairmanship Position and all the Councillorship positions.
