Fr. Konyeke Says Nigeria Will Be Better With The People Engaging In More Good Deeds Than Evil … Marks 12 Years of Priesthood

ASABA/Nigeria: A Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. John Konyeke has urged Nigerians to spend the time for planning and engaging in evil practices to do good.

According to him, Nigeria will be a better country if those who engage in evil spend such time planning and engaging in good deeds.

Rev. Fr. Konyeke spoke on Sunday August 18, 2019, while delivering a homily to mark his 12th Priestly anniversary as a Priest.  The event took place at St. John Bosco’s Catholic Church, Asaba.

“I have not got enough time to think, talk and work for God let alone to think of evil; I use my time to think about God and as Nigerians,  if we spend the time we use in thinking evil, doing evil in doing the work of God, engaging in good deeds, our country will be better.”

“Our destinies are different, yet, they are tied together, so, we should avoid living life of pretence, we should think and work on how to make our society better, commune with God,  because, we all will be better, happier when we spend more time having positive thoughts and engaging in good deeds.”

“My journey to Priesthood commenced through the admiration of Rev. Fr. Simon Onyewadume who has gone to be with the Lord; his presence inspired us and a lot of people played different roles, especially, Monsignor Stephen Uzomah who I first worked with as a Priest.”

“After three years as a Priest, I was made the first Parish Priest of the Catholic Church of the Ascension, a church that was less than five months old; I was in Ascension for 6 years and to the glory of God,  we have more positive stories to tell.”

“God has used Bishop Michael Elue greatly; Monsignor Stephen Uzomah groomed us to be better Priests; my Priesthood has been a Priesthood of obedience, humility and steadfastness in whatever I do and after 12 years, I cannot recount all that God has done for me in the Priesthood.”

“No Priest has the right to rebel against the Bishop; don’t encourage any Priest to rebel against the Bishop; pray for your Priests, pray for the Bishop, pray for the Church; it is a sin against the Holy Spirit to plan on how to bring down a Priest; the Priest is the representative of God on earth, he makes the sacrifices; if you eat what does not belong to you, go for confession and repent from your evil deeds; there is no pride in sin.”

“If you have offended a Priest wrongly, if you have incited any Priest against other Priests, it is wrong; it is wrong to malign anybody.”

“Coming to St, John Bosco Catholic Church after six years in Ascension, I will not tell you that it has been a smooth journey but, the Grace of God is in action; we are currently building for God and through your contributions, we are proud to say that we are doing well and God will continue to give us the means to do more through Jesus Christ our Lord, amen,” Rev. Fr. Konyeke prayed

The celebration featured thanksgiving by Rev. Fr. Konyeke accompanied by parishioners and well wishers.
