Heartland Drag Ifeanyi Ubah to LMC Over Ebere Obi Transfer

ObiGoalkeeper Ebere Obi’s proposed mid-season transfer to FC Ifeanyi Ubah is hanging in the balance as his parent club Heartland have forwarded a strongly worded petition to the League Management Company, claiming the Nnewi Warriors infringed on fundamental transfer rules, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
“We’ve written to the League Management Company because FC Ifeanyi Ubah breached procedural norms as it relates to players’ transfer,” Heartland spokesman Solomon Onu told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“The ideal thing which is enshrined in the football league books is that you first write the club indicating your intention to buy the player.
“Then, the club will now say they will sell or not. Or better still, they will tell you how much to pay and give you permission to discuss with the player.
“Ifeanyi Ubah did not do any of these. Instead, they went ahead to poach our player and the implication is that the player’s concentration and commitment could be impaired.
“So we have written to the LMC. We are expecting their response any moment from now. We did not place the player on transfer. This is modern day football. The era of impunity is over because we live and operate in modern time not in the jungle.”
Incidentally, Ebere, Mikel Obi’s elder brother, was the same player violently assaulted by FC Ifeanyi Ubah owner, Ifeanyi Ubah, which led to a 10-match ban for the businessman.
