Okowa to Student Bodies: Be involved in War Against Cultism

ASABA/Nigeria: AS Nigeria continues to find lasting solutions to secret cults, Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa today, March 22, 2018 called on students’ union bodies to be involved in fighting the hydra-headed societal ill for a better future for the youths.
Addressing the leadership of National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU) who paid him a courtesy visit at Asaba, Governor Okowa decried the effects of secret cults on Nigerian youths, especially, students, saying that there must be collective efforts to stop cultism.
“As a student union body, you must strongly have programmes against cultism, it is an issue that affects our students,” he said.
The Governor continued, “it is not healthy for our students to be involved in cultism because, it is not good for our students to be exposed to such practice, it is important for our students to exercise caution in schools now and it is important that the right values are imbibed by our youths.”
He assured the students that his administration will continue to improve on the facilities in schools in the state and also cater for some of the needs of Delta State Students through payments of bursary and award of scholarship to deserving students of the state origin.
While congratulating the leadership of the NADESSTU for being organised, the Governor urged them to ensure that they live in unity because, they will achieve more as a united body.
Earlier, the President of NADESSTU, Comrade Samson Agolo, had thanked Governor Okowa for making it possible for courses offered in Delta State University to be accredited and also, facilitated the accreditation of School of Nursing, Agbor.
