“We are not Ready to Rehabilitate the Agbor – Amukpe Road” – FG

ABUJA/Nigeria: The federal government had said they are not ready to rehabilitate the Agbor-Amukpe federal Road, as there is an already on going contract work going on.

Speaking  the Managing Director / CEO of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Nuruddeen Rafindadi (Engr) stated this when gave briefing on the number of roads completed which he stated that the agency has completed an additional 212 capital projects to the 88 road projects earlier reported and over 100 direct labour works within FERMA’s scope of work nationwide.

According to the MD, “non-involvement in the rehabilitation of Agbor – Amukpe Road in Delta State, he announced that FERMA could not carry out any rehabilitation work on roads where there is an ongoing contract.”

The Agbor-Amukpe road is a major gate way connecting people from the northern Nigeria, the east, and Delta State capital, Asaba, to the commercial centres of Delta South and central  and had been been pain travelling along that road since the inception of this present government, as no rehabilitation work had been done on the road.

According to investigation by Ndokwa reporters, some of the palliative work done on the road was carried out by the Delta State Government.

However, travellers who use the route had called on the both federal and state government to do something about the deplorable state of the raod, as it had become nightmare to travellers.
