OBIARUKU/Nigeria: As part of the activities to mark the 2018 Mothering Sunday, the Diocese of Ndokwa Women organization have concluded their Diocesan Women’s Sports Fiesta with Ndokwa Archdeaconry taking the 1st position with 78 points, while Ndosumili West and Ukwuani Archdeaconry emerging 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The maiden edition of the Diocesan Women’s Sports Fiesta which was also organized to kick off the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Diocese of Ndokwa was adjudged a grand success by the participants and spectators as well.
The event which had 8 Archdeaconries competing for honours in 100m race, sack race, egg and lime race, dance for Jesus, catching the train and 4X100 relay race was held at the Emeni Primary School playground in Obiaruku.
In her address during the events, the Pioneer President of the Diocesan Mother’s Union, Women’s Guild and Girl’s Guild, Mrs Joy Obiosa said the maiden edition of the sports fiesta of Ndokwa Diocesan Women’s organization was designed to celebrate the mothering Sunday at the diocesan level before the stations will commence their week activities to commemorate the Diocese on her 10th Anniversary.
Mrs. Obiosa acknowledged and appreciated the Archdeacons and their wives and all the diocesan workers who helped prepare the women for the various events featured while the sports fiesta lasted.
She also thanked all those that participated and officiated in the different She noted that the purpose of the event was to flag off the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Diocese of Ndokwa which the grand finale will be in June 2018.
According to her, the sports fiesta will enable the diocese to raise vibrant football and relay team that will compete during the Sister Diocesan Sports activities. She also added that sporting activities will help keep the women physically and mentally sound, build love, unity and a better sense of co-operation.
