Onuesoke Strongly Condemns Demolition Of Ayefele’s N800m Building

IBADAN/Nigeria: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain and former Delta State governorship aspirant, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has strongly condemned Oyo State Government demolition of N800m Music House which housed Fresh FM, a radio station, as well as music studios that belong to gospel artiste, Yinka Ayefele.

Onuesoke who shaded tears during a visit to the site of the demolished structure at Ibadan, Oyo state  on Monday wondered if Oyo State government was aware about the fact that  the victim is not just popular, but  equally physically challenged hence  Yoruba culture compels sympathy for the less fortunate people like him.

Describing the state government’s action as an executive recklessness, lawlessness and condemnable, the PDP Chieftain argued that in developed countries, physically challenged people like Ayefele would be encouraged to grow further, but  in Nigeria, the case is the reverse.

He said with Ayefele’s position and the economic viability of the structure in term of provision of employment to many Nigerians, the government should have tried to at least compensate him in full so that they would be on the same page to avoid reinforcing already present convictions that APC is a tyranny party in the minds of the people.

Onuesoke argued that if there was no sinister motive behind the demolition, the Oyo State government would have waited for the court hearing since there was already a court injunction to that effect.

Hear him, “I suspect there was a political under tone behind this multi-million Naira destruction.   If not, the government would have suspended action hence there was a court injunction. People should   let the world know about this broad daylight oppression against a man who is physically challenged and working so hard not to be a beggar.”

He recalled that two years ago Ajimobi was reported to have visited the Music House where he paid glowing tribute to the state of the art equipment he saw at the Music House and prayed for the management of the radio station.

“After such praised for the achievement of Ayefele, one  is amazed as to why he turned around after two years to demolish the edifice housing the music place. I think there is more than what the eyes can see over the governor’s action,”Onuesoke stated.

He, however, advised Ayefele to take heart, saying  that  all he can do at this critical moment  is to use  his musical talent to warn  his brothers to stop following APC  sheepishly.
