OKPANAM/Nigeria: A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta, High Comrade Jeffery Sunday Mordi has harped on the importance of the leaders to put not only the interest of the party at heart but the overall well-being of Nigerians irrespective of party afflictions above personal gains by embracing the quest for unity and reconciliation in the party.
Comrade Mordi stated this in Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State while addressing newsmen.
He described the subsisting Internal issues between the Presidential Candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the Rivers State Governor, Nysom Wike as normal in the political psych, adding that despite the prevailing challenge, the party remained one indivisible entity.
The party leader, who called on Nigerians to end the impoverishment of the APC led administration in the country by voting overwhelmingly for the PDP, said that they should rally around the PDP for their own elevation from the shackles of maladministration and poor governance occasioned by the APC central government.
Hon. Mordi, who doubles as the Deputy Chief Whip of Oshimili North Legislative Arms, said that the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and the Vice Presidential Candidate of the party and the Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa was the right man to bring the needed succor to Nigerians, especially the youths.
He said that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was a leader with several outstanding qualities which according to him the PDP Vice Presidential candidate would maximise for the overall benefits of Nigerians.
While calling on Nigerians to identify with the PDP by voting overwhelmingly for the party in 2023, Hon. Mordi said that every genuine political leader who borrowed does so in the interest of the infrastructural development of their areas just as he stated that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration’s sourcing for loans was for the betterment of that state.
He opined that such loans had been utilised judiciously for the development of the state, stressing that the massive infrastructural and human capital development in the s had in many ways put the state above other states in Nigeria.
He added that though the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi was of the leaders of the PDP and the Vice Presidential candidate to Atiku Abubakar in 2019, emphasising that the labour party candidate remained a PDP man and wondered why Atiku Abubakar whom he voiced in 2019 had suddenly become incapable of leading Nigeria at this critical time as being perpetrated by the labour party.
The renowned PDP Chieftain told Nigerians to vote enmass for the PDP, noting that at this crucial time in the history of our democracy, Nigerians deserve the best even as reiterated that that best rested on the PDP.
Hon. Mordi, who is popularly known as ‘Ola Ola ‘ commended Deltans for their faith in the PDP, revealing that the party was always one in the state and would continue to support the Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa in his avowed commitments to impact on the lives of average Nigerians.
Meanwhile, Hon. Mordi used the opportunity to appreciate Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the drive development to Okpanam community through several road and drainage infrastructure.
