Ochor Admonish Ukwuani LGA Executive and Legislative Arm to Work for Wellbeing of the People

OBIARUKU/Nigeria: The Executive and Legislative Arm of Ukwuani Local Government Council have being called to work in synergy for the improvement of live of the people of the area.

Giving the charge was the Executive Director, Social Services Development, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Hon Christopher Ochor Ochor, immediately after the inauguration of the Sixth Legislative House of the Council at Obiaruku on the Tuesday 16, 2018, why speaking to the press.

While congratulating the newly sworn in councilors for their victory at the polls, he stated that both arms of government were created by the law establishing the Local Government Administration for the effective and real time development of the closest area of government to the people, and the people can only feel it, if there is unity between both parties.

“I congratulate them, and I am using this opportunity to also plead with them to work with one mind, one purpose, for the wellbeing of the citizens of this area.”

Hon Ochor reminded the councilors that their main purpose of law making for the effective running of the council area should not be lost in a process of rancor and rumour among members and the Executive of the council, as this will slow the idea of good governance.

“The councilors should carryout effective law making process to assist the Executive to effectively administer the council area, they should avoid in house fight, rumour and unnecessary grumbling among themselves.”

The Executive Director, also used the opportunity to remind the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members who are in the Legislative House, that they should not forget that they were elected under the party’s platform, and they have to ensure that all their activities while there is in line with the party’s programs, ensuring that power is giving to the people at the grassroots, especially as the main general election is approaching.

“For those who are members of our great party, the PDP, I appeal to them to put the people and party first, before their own personal interests. They should work for the people at their various wards, and preach the party to the people, most especially now that we are approaching the election year in the country.” He said.
