WARRI/Nigeria: As if to signify the eminent victory of the party in Delta State, the All Progress Congress, APC in what can be termed confidence move, mobilized Deltans to the Warri City Stadium, venue of the flag-Off campaign of the party in the state, today.
Addressing the mammoth crowd which occupied the entire stadium, including the play field, the party presidential candidate, and President of Nigeria, Warri City Stadium lamented the slow development of the state, despite its natural blessing from God. According to him, since he was minister of the federal republic, he had developed interest in the oil deposit of the area, and he expected that the area will be well developed as it had been the economic base of the nation.![]()

“It’s saddening that despite the huge deposit of the oil economy of the state, the area had continued to be drag backward from development.
The president, while calling Deltans to vote for all the candidates of the party, from top to bottom, vowed that the fight against corruption will continue, as no level of intimidation will change the focus on the war against corruption under his government.
“I call on the people of Delta to vote for the APC candidates, from top to bottom, as the focus of this government and our party is to continue to fight corruption in the country.” He stressed.
Earlier, the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, had bemoaned the way the Benin Electricity Distribution Company was sold, lamenting that they warned the then federal government of the consequences, as it will destroy the economic development of the area.
“One of the biggest problems Delta state is having today, in the area of industrial development, is power. I and Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, despite that we were from different parties, warned the then federal government, not to give the management of BEDC to those managing it today. We jointly heard a press conference in my private resident in Benin City warning of the future consequences of such sale. Today, our warning had coming to pass, as the area had continued to wallow in darkness.”
He warned Deltans not to vote the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate for 2019 presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as he had vowed to sell the wealth of the people of Niger Delta, especially the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, if he is elected.
“You heard on national television, the PDP presidential candidate, saying that they will sell the NNPC. They want to sell your wealth, you have to resist them by not voting them.”
Among those who spoke were the governorship candidate of the party, Chief Great Ogboru, the Minister for Transport, and the Director General of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Ameachi.
The campaign flag–off which witnessed a very huge attendance of party faithfuls, and national leaders in attendance, which included the Vice President Prof Yemi Osibanjo, Ex-Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Senator Godswill Akpabio, among others.
