ASABA/Nigeria: Legal enigma and philanthropist, Prince Ned Nwoko will tomorrow Saturday 27th April 2019, take a special recognition as Nigeria’s foremost academic institution, Federal University of Petroleum, FUPRE ,Effurun , Delta State confers him Doctor of Science degree ( Honoris causa).
In a press statement from his media organisers, Prince Nwoko is to receive the prestigious honour with some eminent Nigerians for his outstanding contributions to social progress and human capital development.
A nomination letter dated 15th April 2019 signed by the Vice chancellor of the Federal university of petroleum, Professor A O Akii Ibhobode said Prince Nwoko was chosen for his pedigree of philanthropy, service and integrity.
Professor Ibhodode said the University was convinced that the prince had evolved enduring legacies that would inspire the new generation to pursue their goals for the greatness of society.
Hon.Ned Nwoko, a Prince of Idumuje- ugboko kingdom in Aniocha North local government area of Delta State is reputed for public charities through multi million scholarships to students in secondary and tertiary schools as well as empowerment scheme to thousands of people in the informal sector.
He is the facilitator of the proposed STARS UNIVERSITY, Idumuje ugboko, the first sports University in sub Saharan Africa.
A credible politician, Nwoko was on the 3rd of April 2019, declared senator – elect for Delta North senatorial district by a federal high court Abuja,which ruled that he was the legitimate winner of the October 2nd 2018 primary election for the National Assembly.
Prince Nwoko, initiator of the famous Paris club loan refunds which ended Nigeria’s recession was a former member of House of Representatives for Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency from 1999- 2003.
The FUPRE award is the second of such outstanding honour for Prince Ned Nwoko having received Doctorate in letters D.Litt .( Honoris Causa) from the Commonwealth University Belize ,North America in 1995.
