The Commissioner for lands, survey and urban development, Hon. Patrick Ferife have revealed that the state government has invented a new certificate of occupancy for owners of government land and other subsequent lands in the state, Hon. Ferife stated this at the formal presentation of the newly approved high security certificate of occupancy meeting of stakeholders recently at the state secretariat Asaba.
In his remarks, he noted that the newly approved highly quality security and water marks certificate of occupancy is to replace the old C of O and to show evidence of statutory right of occupancy in a given land purchased, adding that the new certificate of occupancy is highly treasured and specially packaged document that will immensely restore public confidence in the integrity of our C of O and the overall quality of our service delivery by the ministry of lands, survey and urban development.
Hon. Patrick Ferife, commended the state government for his encouragement and commitment to the success of this project which is part of the dividends of his transformation agenda to achieve Delta beyond oil, he said that the ministry have commenced the issuance of new security certificate of occupancy and old certificates issued would be systematically withdrawn and replace with the modern C of O, he added that the C of O serves as a collateral security for all forms of financial transactions and give property owners a sense of secured ownership, it can also serve as a surety in diplomatic circle like foreign embassies, instrument of gurantorship in court.
