Clergymen from different parts of Delta State have gathered in Asaba for the maiden edition of Clergymen Lawn Tennis Tournament billed to kick off on Sunday, March 15, 2015.
According to the coordinator of the tournament, Rev. Fr. John Konyeke, the Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has approved that the state government sponsors the tournament for clergymen in the state.
While commending Governor Uduaghan for approving the tournament for clergymen, Rev. Fr. Konyeke said more than sixteen clergymen are already in Asaba for the tournament billed to take place at Government House, Asaba.
He observed that the tournament is an opportunity for clergy men to exercise themselves.
“We call this a unity tournament for clergymen, this tournament will provide avenue for us to unwind,” he said, adding, “this is the first of its kind and we believe it will be an avenue to also evangelise.”
He added, “we are conscious that this is period of lent, but to His glory, the Governor approved that it should take place now, we believe the tournament would help us as clergymen and those who will come and watch us in more ways than we envisage.”
