Nigeria Super Falcons crush Mali 8-0, Qualify for All Africa Games

The Super Falcons thrashed Mali 8-0 in the second leg of the 2015 All Africa Games qualifier played inside the main bowl of the National Stadium, Abuja, on Friday.
The Falcons got off to the perfect start as they went ahead inside the opening two minutes, thanks to a fine pass from Asisat Oshoala, which was buried by Desire Oparanozie.
Fifteen minutes later, the Falcons doubled the lead, as another good set piece was picked by Francisca Ordega who fired home a powerful shot.
The Edwin Okon-tutored side continued to dominate after the second goal and increased the tally in the 37th minute, as Oshoala converted another pass from Oparanozie.
The Falcons’ task was made easier a minute before the half time as Oshoala dribbled three Malian defenders before she found Oparanozie to score the fourth goal.
The Falcons eventually added the fifth goal in the 46th minute, as Oshoala capitlised on the Malian defensive error to find the back of the net.
Ordega then got her second and the team’s sixth in the 64th minute, as she latched on to a through ball before slotting past the Malian goalkeeper.
Super Falcons captain, Evelyn Nwabuoku, scored the goal of the day in the 70th minute with a powerful shot from 25 yards to make it seven.
Two minutes later, substitute Sunday Esther showed good skill to beat Malian defenders before curling
one into the top corner to make eight.
The first leg in Mali ended in 1-1 and with Friday’s result, the Super Falcons have qualified on 9-1 aggregate for the 11th edition of the All Africa Games in Congo Brazaville holding in September.
