Delta Police Command Arrest One For Breaking Government Seal In Asaba

ASABA/Nigeria: A staff of Chipet Petrol Station, along the Asaba-Onitsha Express Way, in Asaba, the state capital, has been arrested by the police for breaking the Delta State Government seal in the premises of the filling station.

The team of the combined Taskforce on Ground Rent, Operation Show Your Building Plan and others discovered the misdeed during an enforcement, monitoring exercise on sealed up business premises in Asaba.

The crime was said to have been committed earlier for which a reseal up was ensured by the combined taskforce before a second attempt was committed by the defaulter of the earlier notice served management of the station.

The Chairman of the taskforce, Mr. Chidi Nwuko, disclosed that the said business premise had been sealed up earlier for failure to present approved building plan and other title documents for verification within a stipulated period.

Mr. Nwuko expressed displeasure at the incessant manner citizens, who should be law abiding, flagrantly flouted the law.

He condemned the unpatriotic act in its entirety and reiterated the resolve of the state government to clamp down decisively on defaulters of all land and property related levies, stressing that compliance was a statutory obligation that those concerned must adhere to strictly.

While expressing the belief that the arrest would serve as a deterrent to others, he called on business owners as well as land and property developers to imbibe the sense of responsibility by adhering to the rules, governing their operations in the state.

Earlier, over twenty building construction sites were sealed up, following failure to present proof of payments of land and property related charges by their owners in the state capital territory.
