ASABA/Nigeria: It is hereby announced for the information of the public that the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in collaboration with the World Bank and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, plans to conduct a national agricultural sample survey (NASS), covering the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The objective of the survey is to address the challenges and bridge identified gaps of inadequacies and inconsistencies in data related to agriculture in Nigeria.
Specifically, it is to provide relevant data on the agricultural sector needed for formulating policies relating to agriculture, and also provide the country with comprehensive and detailed information about the structure of the economy.
Already, preparations for the survey are in top gear with the training of trainers (ToT) already conducted from the 14th-22nd December 2022.
The training of enumerators (ToE) was scheduled for the 16th-23rd of January 2023, following which the fieldwork commenced immediately after simultaneously in all 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
Thus, in order to ensure the effective conduct of the survey, the National Bureau of Statistics, working with state bureau of statistics, and other relevant agencies at the State level, are making all necessary arrangements for the success of the exercise in all states.
Accordingly, all relevant stakeholders in Delta State are implored to buy into this exercise to ensure its hitch-free conduct in the state.
