Quality Lectures at Delta State House of Assembly Retreat Receive High Praise from Speaker

IKOT-AKPENE/Nigeria: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, expressed great satisfaction with the caliber of lectures delivered during the two-day retreat for members of the 8th Assembly. Speaking on the second day of the program, which took place in Ikot-Akpene, Akwa-Ibom state, Rt Hon Guwor lauded the capacity-building workshop, describing it as an interesting and eventful experience.

According to Rt Hon Guwor, the retreat proved highly beneficial for all attendees, including both the twenty-one first-time members and the nine returning ones. He emphasized that each participant would return to their respective constituencies equipped with fresh knowledge and a deeper understanding of the intricacies of lawmaking.

The Speaker conveyed his delight on behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly and the Delta State government to the non-governmental organization responsible for organizing the training program. Rt Hon Guwor commended the efforts of the organization, recognizing their contribution to the development and enhancement of the House members’ legislative capacities.

Rt Hon Guwor further asserted that the 8th Delta Assembly holds the promise of becoming a dynamic legislative body, emphasizing the pivotal role it plays in democratic governance. He assured that his leadership would embrace inclusivity and welcome ideas that promote good governance, with the aim of delivering greater dividends of democracy to the state, as exemplified by Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

Several members of the House also expressed their satisfaction with the workshop. Honorable Emmanuel Sinebe of Patani, Emeka Nwaobi of Aniocha North, Festus Utuama of Ughelli South, Ferguson Onwo of Isoko South, Fred Martins of Warri North, Blessing Achoja of Ethiope West, and Spencer Ohwofa of Ughelli North Two, all praised the workshop for its significant impact. They commended both the Speaker and the organizers for their efforts in arranging the training, highlighting the importance of continuous capacity building in keeping up with global developments in legislative affairs.

While the returning members acknowledged the wealth of knowledge they gained from the workshop, the first-time attendees expressed gratitude for the support and guidance provided by their more experienced colleagues.

The workshop featured resource persons from various backgrounds, both domestic and international, who shared their expertise with the participants. As the program draws to a close, a comprehensive evaluation of all the topics and issues covered is anticipated, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of the retreat’s outcomes.
