Delta State Deputy Governor Advocates for Quality Education Accessibility in Delta State

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, emphasised the importance of providing accessible quality education for all Deltans.

The Deputy Governor stated this during a meeting with members of the National Open University of Nigeria Alumni Association (NOUNAA), Delta State Chapter, held at the Government House in Asaba, where he talked of the significance of the establishment of NOUN in ensuring education reaches every Nigerian.

“Our desire as a government is that every local government area in our state should have one study centre of NOUN, that was the concept for establishing the Open University,” said Onyeme. He further explained that the involvement of host communities is crucial in establishing study centers in each local government area.

Acknowledging his association with NOUN, Onyeme expressed gratitude to NOUNAA members and assured them of his continued support for the university’s ideals. He urged NOUNAA members to actively contribute their best efforts in supporting the administration led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to achieve success in Delta State, emphasizing that the success of the administration directly benefits all Deltans.

Mr. Collins Abuah, Chairman of NOUNAA, Delta State chapter, commended Sir Onyeme on his appointment as Deputy Governor and congratulated him on assuming office successfully. Abuah described Onyeme as a father figure in the National Open University of Nigeria.

The visit was attended by notable figures such as Engr. Dan Ossai, the Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State chapter, and Sir Christopher Osakwe, the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Government House.
