ASABA/Nigeria: Delta Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, has expressed the commitment of the administration led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to connect communities in the state with a well-developed network of roads. Recognizing the significance of a good road network in enhancing the socio-economic life of the people, Onyeme emphasized that the construction of roads across the state would be a top priority in the implementation of Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda.
Speaking on Tuesday during a courtesy visit from HRM Obi Fredrick Egbunkonye, the traditional ruler of Abala Kingdom in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, Onyeme stated, “This victory at the polls has brought immense joy to Deltans, especially the Ndokwa and Abala people, as an Ndokwa son now occupies the position of Deputy Governor of Delta State. With this achievement, we aim to bring about significant improvements in our communities, and Abala Kingdom will not be left behind.”
The Deputy Governor stressed the importance of access roads for communities, highlighting that without proper road infrastructure, the efforts of the people may not yield the desired results as goods cannot be transported to where they are needed. Assuring the public of the administration’s dedication to road construction, Onyeme stated, “The Oborevwori administration places great importance on road construction as part of the M.O.R.E. Agenda. Even if the link roads to communities are extensive, we can divide them into phases, but we will pay close attention to connecting our communities with well-constructed roads. Our priority is to serve the good people of Delta State who voted for us with enthusiasm.”
Addressing concerns raised by the Abala Kingdom regarding flooding and erosion, the Deputy Governor acknowledged that these issues would require intervention from the Federal Government. He assured the people that the Oborevwori administration would collaborate with relevant agencies to mitigate the effects of ecological challenges in the state.
In his address, HRM Obi Egbunkonye congratulated the Deputy Governor on his successful assumption of office. He appealed to the state government to construct the link road to Abala Kingdom, address the erosion threat, and make timely provisions for those affected by potential flooding.
