In an eagerly anticipated event, the Old Students Association of Command Day Secondary School, also known as the Ex-Commandos, is preparing to host their Annual General Meeting and Reunion in September 2023. The association, based in Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State, is expecting this year’s gathering to be the grandest and most significant event of the year.

Mr. Ibrahim Uduans, the President of the Association, shared exclusive details about the reunion in an interview with GATMASH NEWS. He highlighted that one of the primary objectives of the event is to elect new executives who will lead the association for the next three years. Despite the prevailing economic challenges in the country, Uduans expressed his satisfaction with the valuable ideas put forth by the current executives to ensure the smooth functioning of the association.

“Registration is crucial, as it guarantees every member a place and a voice during the AGM. I appeal to all Ex-Commandos to register on or before July 31st, 2023. Your presence matters; come and elect your next set of leaders,” Uduans emphasized.

Uduans also took the opportunity to call upon eligible candidates to contest for various positions within the association. These positions include President, Vice President, Secretary-General, Auditor, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, Assistant Financial Secretary, Legal Adviser, Public Relations Officer, Assistant Secretary, Provost, and Director of Socials.

Clarifying the positions available for contestation, Uduans explained, “The offices of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Financial Secretary, and Auditor are strictly for members of the first, second, and third generation sets (1985–1989, 1991–1995, and 1996–2000). Other offices are open for contestation by members from the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth generation sets (2001–2005, 2006–2010, 2011–2015, 2016–2020, and 2021–2023).”

The election process will be conducted through a secret ballot system, ensuring fairness and transparency. Additionally, all sets or generations must vouch for the good character of each candidate, and contestants must have registered to attend the reunion.

Before the election, each candidate will have the opportunity to address the Congress in person and present their manifesto.

In his closing remarks, Ibrahim Udauns urged every member of the electoral committee, comprising Mike Ahidjo (Chairman), Josiah Benjamin, Michael Oteikwu (Secretary), Michael Hosea, Lucas John, Eke Chibuike Sidney, and Philomena Sunday, to exert their utmost efforts in order to ensure a credible election and the emergence of capable leaders.

Udauns also highlighted the impressive achievements of Command Day Secondary School, Jos, commonly referred to as CDSSJ. The school has produced numerous successful individuals who have made remarkable contributions in various fields such as the military, academics, sports, administration, media, engineering, politics, and other spheres of life, attributing their accomplishments to the quality of education received at the school.
