PORT HARCOURT/Nigeria: The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Rivers state, Zacchaeus Adango, lauded Andoni Area Council Chairman, Erastus Awortu, for his significant contribution to bolstering security and logistics at the grassroots level.
This commendation came during an official presentation of two Security Patrol vehicles to the Nigeria Police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to fortify security in Andoni and its surrounding areas, held at the Council’s Headquarters in Ngo.
In addition to the patrol vehicles, a utility bus was also presented to the National Union of Andoni Students (NUAS), recognized as the oldest ethnic students’ body in the region.
While handing over the vehicles to ACP Isah Gumel and AC Haruna James, who received them on behalf of the police and NSCDC respectively, Attorney General Adango emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration.
According to him, it is imperative for all three tiers of government to work together to provide the necessary logistics to enhance effective policing and the security of lives and properties. He expressed his gratitude to Chairman Erastus Awortu for recognizing his constitutional responsibility and taking action.
Adango stated, “This donation will go a long way to support logistics and strengthen security operations in the area.” He further urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of these facilities to promote security, particularly within the area council.
Prior to this, Chairman Awortu delivered a crucial message, imploring politicians to refrain from politicizing security matters, even in their pursuit of leadership positions. He emphasized the significant achievements in reducing crime within the council through collaboration with various security agencies deployed to the area.
Chairman Awortu underlined the importance of security as a non-negotiable concern, emphasizing that it should not be tainted by sentiment or political maneuvers. He urged everyone to unite in building Andoni for the collective good, thereby providing essential intelligence to strengthen security operations.
In another development, Dr. Isaac Iragwunima, a prominent medical practitioner and Patron of NUAS, together with Mr. Anni Dan, President of the union, officially accepted the utility bus on behalf of NUAS.
