In a poignant sermon titled “The Triangle of Marriage,” delivered by the General Overseer of the church, Archbishop Solomon Gbakara, marriage was characterized as a sacred, lifelong bond between a man and a woman. Archbishop Gbakara emphasized the importance of love, drawing parallels to Christ’s love for the church.
He underlined the divine essence of marriage, asserting that no cultural practices or societal norms should supersede God’s ordained design for matrimony. Stressing on the biblical narrative, he highlighted the role of women in mitigating men’s loneliness, a purposeful design by God.
The cleric imparted invaluable wisdom, emphasizing the fundamental pillars for a thriving marriage: effective communication, tolerance, forgiveness, and a deep-seated appreciation for one another. He urged wives to embrace the concept of submission while encouraging husbands to cherish and love their partners as paramount in fostering a successful marital bond.
The celebratory mood continued at a reception in Warri, where guests were treated to soul-lifting gospel performances by Victory Gbakara, the winner of Nigeria Idol Season 8, and the renowned gospel maestro, Frank Edward. The event resonated with joy and spiritual exuberance, marking the auspicious beginning of Akpevwe and Andra Oghenejobo’s union.
