IBADAN/Nigeria: The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) is poised to revolutionize its operations with a significant boost from telecommunication giant, Globacom. The company has pledged to equip the agency with state-of-the-art digital facilities to enhance its efficiency in managing traffic across the state.
Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd.), Chairman of OYRTMA, announced this development following a meeting with Globacom’s management team at his office in Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan. He expressed his enthusiasm for the intervention, highlighting the positive impact it would have on the agency’s operations.
“The new equipment will not only improve the efficiency of the agency but also make it more effective in ensuring road traffic orderliness,” Major Adekoya stated. He emphasized the importance of leveraging modern technology to streamline operations and enhance revenue generation through the apprehension of traffic offenders.
Major Adekoya reiterated the commitment of the present administration to ensuring seamless traffic flow in the state, promising round-the-clock efforts to achieve this goal.
In response, Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi, South-West Zonal Director of Globacom, reaffirmed the organization’s support for OYRTMA. He described the initiative as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, commending OYRTMA for its dedication to maintaining road traffic orderliness.
The courtesy visit also featured dignitaries such as Mr. Gabriel Makinde, Zonal General Manager of Globacom, Commander Adeoye Ayoade, General Manager of OYRTMA, and Kareem Jimoh, Director of Admin and Supplies, among others.
Meanwhile, OYRTMA, under the leadership of Major Adekoya, conducted a special enforcement operation during which thirty-seven traffic offenders were apprehended and fined accordingly, demonstrating the agency’s ongoing commitment to enforcing traffic regulations.
