Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Americas, NIDOA has selected Dr. Mrs. Perpetua Uwechue as the recipient of COVID-19 Relieve Committee Community Service.
According to the award committee, the honour is in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Nigeria diaspora and the community generally during the COVID-19 pandemic. Uwechue is also being honoured for her exceptional leadership qualities, commitment to service, compassion, advocacy, commendable representation and an excellent spirit that became manifest during COVID-19 pandemic and at other unusual times.

And we are truly grateful for your dedication and for the positive impact that you have made over the years. Once again, congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, and we look forward to celebrating your invaluable contributions at the gala, part of the letter signed by Mr. Bishop Adejube Chairman, Planning Committee, reads.
Dr. Uwechue, a distinguished economist, public intellectual Philanthropist, community leader and a luminary in the fields of Economics and Banking, is also a beacon of excellence and compassion. With a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Manhattanville College, New York which she earned in 1981, she embarked on a remarkable journey in the world of finance. Her thirst for knowledge eventually led her to the University of Lagos, where she obtained a Master of Science degree in Economics, specializing in Monetary Economics and International Trade.
With illustrious career spanning many decades, Mrs. Uwechue has made significant contributions to the financial sector, notably at Merchant Bank of Commerce (MBCOM) and International Merchant Bank (IMB) Nigeria, where she effectively succeeded in turning around, Wealth and Risk Management departments. Her expertise as an Enrolled Agent and Tax Consultant has not only reshaped financial landscapes across the USA but has also touched the lives of countless individuals seeking sound financial advice.
Beyond all her professional accomplishments, Mrs. Uwechue has a heart of gold. As a matter of fact, philanthropy is her second nature. Through her foundation, she has illuminated the paths of over 40 college students in Nigeria, providing them with the invaluable gift of education and the opportunity to become better human beings. For instance, during the throes of the COVID-19 pandemic, she stood as a pillar of support, participating in projects that provided essential funds, food, and rental assistance to vulnerable families in Georgia. Her humanitarian endeavours reverberate globally, as she actively serves as a Director in the Board of Trustees of Nigerians in Diaspora Organization in the Americas, contributing to numerous humanitarian and medical missions, and advancing education in Nigerian and West African countries.
At the helm of Dunamis Tax and Business Services INC in Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Uwechue is the epitome of entrepreneurial acumen and leadership. As the Vice President of the Atlanta Chapter of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Americas, she continues to champion unity, progress and excellence within the diaspora community and beyond.
