Public Relations Must Evolve to Stay Relevant, Says Delta NIPR Chairman

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Chapter Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Mr. Godfrey Osakwe, fnipr, has emphasized the need for members to be more strategic in incorporating public relations principles into their daily engagements, as this would not only strengthen the profession’s relevance in society but also enhance its credibility and influence.

He made the call during the Chapter’s monthly PR Clinic at the Professor Chike Edozien Secretariat in Asaba

The meeting also reviewed the activities of the National Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the institute held in Uyo from May 19 to 24, 2025, and concluded that it was an event packed with opportunities for networking and learning.

Members who attended the Uyo AGM shared their experiences, describing the gathering as a valuable platform for professional development and collaboration.

Mr. Osakwe commended the steady participation of members at the monthly clinics, describing the sessions as vital platforms for peer learning, mentor-ship, and professional growth as he also urged members to take full advantage of the Clinic to refine their skills and remain updated on best practices in the evolving PR landscape.

Participants resolved to intensify efforts at engaging key stakeholders in both the public and private sectors to advance the Profession’s cause.

Mr. Osakwe  reaffirmed  the chapter’s commitment to continuous capacity-building and advocacy, pledging that the leadership would work tirelessly to ensure public relations practitioners in Delta State remain at the forefront of national conversations on communication and reputation management.
