Warri Wolves Crowned NNL Champions After Dramatic Victory Over Wikki Tourists

ASABA/Nigeria: Warri Wolves Football Club have been crowned champions of the 2025 Nigerian National League (NNL) following a thrilling 3–2 win over Wikki Tourists of Bauchi in the final played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Saturday.

The Seasiders delivered a blistering first-half performance that left fans on the edge of their seats, storming to a 3–0 lead within the opening 31 minutes. Goals from Lateef Yusuf, Igbunu Evwierhurhoma, and Efe Yarherhe put Warri Wolves in firm control of the encounter.

Yusuf struck early to break the deadlock before Evwierhurhoma and Yarherhe added their names to the scoresheet in quick succession, putting the Delta-based side in the driver’s seat.

Wikki Tourists, however, refused to go down without a fight. Mahmood Aliyu clawed one back before the break, and Wonderson’s early second-half strike further cut the deficit, setting up a nail-biting finish to the contest.

Despite sustained pressure from the Bauchi outfit, Warri Wolves stood firm to see out the game and secure the NNL title in what was the climax of the 2025 NNL Super 8 tournament held from July 5 to 12.

The final was witnessed by notable dignitaries, including Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, as well as former Minister of Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare.

Other teams that featured in the Super 8 tournament were Doma United FC, Barau FC, Yobe Desert Stars FC, Kun Khalifat FC, Crown FC, and Osun United FC.

With the victory, Warri Wolves not only claimed the championship crown and a cash prize of ₦5 million but also sealed promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), marking their return to top-flight football after over four years in the lower division.
