
ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated former Minister of Information and elder statesman, Professor Sam Oyovbaire, on his 84th birthday, describing him as a national asset and intellectual force whose contributions to public policy and governance remain deeply impactful.
In a statement issued on Monday in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori praised Prof. Oyovbaire’s decades of unwavering service to Delta State and Nigeria, noting his continued relevance as Chairman of the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council and his legacy as a key figure in the nation’s political evolution.
“Professor Sam Oyovbaire is a distinguished scholar and statesman whose experience and wisdom have benefited not just Delta State, but the entire country,” Oborevwori stated. “His contributions in political science, governance, and public policy continue to inspire many.”
The Governor acknowledged Oyovbaire’s critical role as Minister of Information under the Babangida military administration, where he helped shape national discourse, and commended his lifelong commitment to mentoring future leaders, strengthening democratic ideals, and promoting unity and peace in Delta.
“As you mark this milestone, on behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I extend our warmest congratulations and best wishes,” Oborevwori said. “May God continue to bless you with good health and many more years of service to our dear state and nation.”
