ASABA/Nigeria: The Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State Council, has applauded the Delta State House of Assembly for passing the Community Security Corps Agency Bill.

The bill, according to the body, reflects a clear understanding of evolving security challenges and a proactive response to ensure every Deltan can live and work in peace.

The commendation was contained in a Thursday statement issued in Asaba and signed by the State Chairman, Comrade Ike Philip Abiagom.

Abiagom described the development as a “giant stride” and one of the greatest achievements in the history of the Delta State House of Assembly, saying it demonstrated that lawmakers are in line with the vision of the state’s founding fathers and attuned to the national political climate.

He noted that the Legislature had once again shown an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of Deltans, particularly at the grassroots, expressing optimism that once signed into law, the bill would greatly enhance peace, order, and security across the state.

“The passage of this bill is timely and essential to the growth of democracy in Delta State and will directly impact the common man on the street. We sincerely commend the Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon Dennis Guwor and members of the 8th Delta State Assembly, especially those who contributed to the deliberations and voted for the bill’s accelerated passage,” he said.

He also praised the efforts of critical stakeholders and partners, particularly the media and civil society groups, for working tirelessly to ensure the bill’s passage.

Abiagom urged local government legislators (councillors) to key into the vision by domesticating the bill in their respective councils. He further called on Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to urgently assent to the bill for its immediate implementation.
