Effurun: The dispute between the Unuevworo of Uvwie Kingdom High Chief (Dr) Ambrose Olugho (JP) and chiefs of Ugbomro Community has been resolved, following the visit of the executive of Uvwie Traditional Council of Chiefs Peace Committee to the community.
In his key note address the leader of the committee High Chief Anthony Tene Omadide (JP) thanked the people of the community for attending the meeting in their numbers just he urged them to always live in peace as he noted that the area cannot develope in the absence of peace, stating that “the reign of Umugun (Abe I) has been peaceful because he is an ambassador of peace. So we should always settle our differences with love within ourselves without going to court.” While stating that he was satisfied with the outcome of the meeting, High Chief Omadide advised that the leaders and followers should listen to one another.
Speaking to media men shortly after the peace meeting High Chief (Dr.) Ambrose Olugho (JP) commended the Ovie of Uvwie for his peace initiative just as he acknowledges that the meeting has brought peace and unity amongst himself and the other chiefs of the community, “You can see that we are celebrating the peace amongst us now”.
In his remark in a chat with newsmen after the meeting the Secretary of the community Chief A.O Okuforaye noted that the peace settlement is unique adding that it will bring a lasting peace to the community”.
On his part the President General of Uvwie General Improvement Union (UGIU) Chief Austine Ukuwere noted that the Ugbomro people are happy with the peace initiative of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom just as he urged the Ugbomro people to abide by the terms of settlements of the Executives of Uvwie Council of Chiefs “let me use this opportunity to call on all Uvwie people to always seek dialogue in settling their disputes.
The Oghwuvwie General of Ugbomro Community Solomon Okuforaye had earlier in a chat with newsmen also expressed appreciation to the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom for settling the dispute between High Chief Olugho and other chiefs of the community just as he acknowledged that the settlement was made possible due to the peace initiative of Abe 1. He further called on Ugbomro people to work for the peace and development in the area.
High point of the event was the reading and interpretation of the terms of settlement in Uvwie dialogue of Urhobo language to Ugbomro people by the secretary of the community Chief A.O Okuforaye.
