WARRI/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has praised the Olu of Warri, His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, for his visionary leadership, cultural revival, and enduring contributions to peace and development in the state.

Speaking at the palace grounds in Aghofen, Warri, during a homage-paying ceremony to mark the Olu’s fourth coronation anniversary, Governor Oborevwori described the monarch’s reign as a beacon of peace, unity, and purposeful leadership.

Represented by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, who led a high-powered state government delegation, the Governor commended Ogiame Atuwatse III for redefining traditional leadership through integrity, innovation, and a global outlook.

“Since ascending the revered throne in August 2021, Your Royal Majesty has demonstrated that traditional leadership, when guided by vision and integrity, can be a powerful force for transformation,” the Governor stated.

He noted that the Olu’s reign has strengthened harmony in the Warri Kingdom, projected the progressive ideals of the Itsekiri nation, and consistently stood for equity, justice, and cultural pride.

Governor Oborevwori also highlighted the monarch’s role in forging bilateral partnerships and attracting investments, which, he said, have further positioned Warri as a growing economic hub in line with his administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda—Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.

Reaffirming his administration’s support for the traditional institution, Oborevwori declared that “the tranquility of Warri Kingdom under your reign has provided the foundation upon which we continue to expand infrastructure, empower communities, and drive development across Delta State.”

The Governor extended warm congratulations to His Royal Majesty and the entire Itsekiri nation, expressing optimism that the Olu’s reign would remain a source of inspiration and progress.

“May your reign remain a source of light, unity and progress to Iwere land, Delta State and Nigeria at large,” he emphasized.

The ceremony drew dignitaries from across Nigeria, including members of the National and State Assemblies, Federal and State Executive Councils, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and well-wishers. The event was marked by cultural displays, traditional music, and glowing tributes to the Olu’s leadership and commitment to the welfare of his people.
