ASABA/Nigeria: The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Delta State, Sir Festus Ahon, has felicitated with two distinguished personalities, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, and Olorogun Jaro Movudu Egbo, Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, on the occasion of their birthdays today.
In his congratulatory message, Sir Ahon described Professor Ufuophu-Biri as a shining light in academia, whose scholarship and reform-driven leadership have inspired many within and beyond Delta State. He recalled that the Rector had lectured at world-class institutions, including Harvard, the University of Memphis, the University of South Florida, and Abertay University in Scotland.
The Governor’s spokesman noted that Ufuophu-Biri, a prolific scholar and multiple award recipient, had been recognized as Most Productive Head of Department and Academic Personality of the Year, and was honoured with the traditional title of Omoko of Oghara Kingdom in acknowledgment of his service to education and humanity.
Turning to Olorogun Egbo, Sir Ahon praised him as a lawyer, politician, and grassroots mobilizer whose leadership as Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council had been impactful. He lauded Egbo’s introduction of a monthly environmental sanitation programme that significantly improved cleanliness and public health in the area, alongside his free medical outreaches and other people-centered initiatives.
Ahon further described Egbo, a Knight of St. Christopher of the Anglican Communion and holder of the revered titles of Amerode of Ughelli Kingdom and Ogidigan of Agbon Kingdom, as a servant-leader whose compassion and commitment to his people remained exemplary.
He stressed that the birthdays of Professor Ufuophu-Biri and Olorogun Egbo are not merely personal milestones but also moments to celebrate the remarkable contributions both men have made to scholarship, leadership, and the development of Delta State.
