ASABA/Nigeria: As Delta State celebrates its 34th anniversary of creation, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has called on citizens to uphold their rich cultural heritage, unity, and shared vision for a greater state.
In a goodwill message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, Guwor said while the state has recorded remarkable progress since its creation in 1991, there is still much work to be done to fully realise the dreams of its founding fathers.
The Speaker, who represents Warri South West Constituency and also serves as National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly, assured that the Assembly under his leadership would remain steadfast in advancing policies that serve the people. He described the 34th anniversary as a celebration of resilience, determination, and progress, noting that Deltans at home and abroad should be proud of how far the state has come.
“To the noble sons and daughters of Delta State, I rejoice with you on this momentous occasion of our state’s 34th anniversary. As we mark this milestone, let us reflect on our journey so far, acknowledging the strides we have made and the challenges we have overcome,” Guwor said.
He commended successive administrations for their contributions to unity and development, stressing the need for citizens to sustain the spirit of collective effort. According to him, Delta’s diversity remains a source of strength that should be harnessed to drive growth across all sectors.
The Speaker further praised the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as focused, visionary, and resourceful leadership that has prioritised security, protection of lives and property, and infrastructural development.
“As a people, we must continue to work together in building a peaceful, prosperous, and progressive state,” Guwor said, while wishing Deltans happiness, prosperity, and peace. He prayed for God’s guidance as the state journeys towards a brighter future.
