ASABA/Nigeria: The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has urged youths and stakeholders in the state to embrace social media as a tool for economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development.

Guwor, who was represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, stated this in his goodwill message at the opening of the third edition of the Delta State Social Media Summit in Asaba. He commended the organizers for their commitment to harnessing digital platforms to transform the state’s economy and create opportunities for young people.

He noted that the summit’s theme, “Brand Delta, Grow Delta,” reflects the aspirations of the state to use its rich cultural heritage, resources, and human capital to build a strong identity that attracts investments and fosters prosperity. According to him, “Social media offers us a powerful avenue to project a positive image of Delta State, showcasing our investment opportunities, cultural heritage, innovations, and human capital to a global audience.”

The Speaker emphasized that beyond branding, social media should be maximized as a platform for empowerment, skill acquisition, and entrepreneurship. “Through strategic engagement, skill acquisition, and innovative thinking, our youths can become content creators, digital marketers, entrepreneurs, and influencers who drive economic diversification and reduce unemployment,” he said.

He assured participants that the Delta State House of Assembly, under his leadership, remains committed to advocating policies that promote digital literacy, infrastructure development, and wider access to technology. This, he said, will ensure that no one is left behind in the ongoing digital revolution.

While urging participants to seize the opportunities provided by the summit for learning and networking, Guwor expressed confidence that their collective efforts would contribute to building a digitally sharp, economically vibrant, and socially inclusive Delta State.

“I commend the organizers for hosting this summit and providing a platform for us to share ideas and inspiration. Together, we can brand Delta with excellence, grow the state through innovation, and build a legacy of sustainable development and meaningful employment for generations to come,” the Speaker said.
