IDUMUJE-UGBOKO/Nigeria: Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, on Saturday hosted stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Idumuje Ward 8 at his Mount Ned country home in Idumuje Ugboko, where he called for grassroots unity to consolidate the party’s strength.
Addressing the gathering, Nwoko said the meeting was convened to foster cohesion and collective action within the ward, describing unity at the grassroots as critical to the consolidation of APC under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He urged ward leaders to intensify mobilization and support for the ruling party at all levels.
The federal lawmaker outlined several initiatives he has championed in his constituency, including access roads, an earth dam, school buildings, solar-powered electricity, skill acquisition programmes, and employment opportunities. He added that similar interventions in social infrastructure and manpower development have been extended across Delta North as part of his commitment to balanced rural and urban development.
Nwoko also announced the establishment of a project monitoring and implementation committee in Ward 8, comprising Idumuje Unor, Idumuje Ugboko, and Aniofu, to conduct needs assessments and ensure equitable distribution of amenities.
On the agitation for Anioma State, the senator reaffirmed his determination to actualize the long-standing demand, stressing that the struggle dates back to 1954. He noted that his push for Anioma State enjoys support from President Tinubu’s administration, the National Assembly, and socio-cultural organizations across the country.
“My commitment to Anioma State creation is not for self-aggrandizement but for equity, social justice, and identity,” he said. “The agitation remains the oldest in Nigeria, and I am determined to see it through with the support of our people.”
He disclosed plans to convene an enlarged meeting of Ward 8 members on September 1 to further deliberate and forge a common front.
Speakers at the meeting pledged their loyalty to the APC and expressed support for the senator’s efforts toward development and the realization of Anioma State.
