ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to step up mobilisation of eligible voters, especially first-time registrants, for the ongoing voter registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking at an enlarged meeting of party leaders at ward, local government, and state levels held on Tuesday at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, the Governor underscored the importance of the exercise in shaping the outcome of the 2027 general elections. He urged stakeholders to ensure that all citizens who turned 18 since the last registration in 2022 are registered to participate in the polls.

Oborevwori said the meeting was convened to strengthen the bond of unity among party members, stressing that only a united APC could guarantee victory at all levels of governance. He reaffirmed his synergy with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in advancing the collective good of both the state and the nation.

“With unity in our party, no other political party can defeat the APC. We are performing well at the federal level, and we are equally doing well here in the state. The issue of voters’ registration is very important, and we must take it seriously. From the ward level, ensure that those who could not register before are captured this time,” the Governor declared.

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, also addressed the gathering, urging elected and appointed members to return to their constituencies to mobilise new voters. He insisted that teamwork remained key to advancing the “Renewed Hope for More Agenda.”

Echoing the call for unity, the APC State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, tasked members to close ranks and work together for the party’s future electoral fortunes. Similarly, Chief Solomon Arenyeka appealed to aggrieved members to bury their grievances and prioritise party growth and the development of the state.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Valentine Onojeghuo, explained that the parley was convened to consolidate unity and intensify voter mobilisation. He maintained that loyalty and collective action were indispensable for success in 2027.

“Our first and most important takeaway from this meeting is the unity of the party because without unity, there can be no loyalty. The second is ensuring that all eligible young people turning 18 are captured in the ongoing registration. Once this is done, the 2027 general elections will be a walkover for our party,” Onojeghuo said.
