LAGOS/Nigeria: Residents of the Maraban Rido and Juji Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have praised the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) for delivering relief materials, Bibles and back-to-school packs valued at ₦21.3 million.
A total of 1,305 households benefited from the outreach, receiving food items and essential supplies, while 3,505 copies of the Bible were distributed to residents who could read. Children also received school kits ahead of the new academic term.
In a letter signed by the Camp Commandant, Adams Sule, the community expressed gratitude to BSN, describing the intervention as a source of “relief, comfort and renewed hope” during a period of hardship. The letter acknowledged that the gesture met both spiritual and physical needs, strengthening the faith of displaced residents.
The traditional ruler of the area, Dajkachi Auta Ganyi, also commended BSN during a courtesy visit, calling the intervention unprecedented and the first of its kind in the community.
Representing the organisation, Laniru Dare of the Kaduna Area Office said the outreach was carried out under BSN’s Macedonian Call project, which focuses on supporting vulnerable and underserved communities nationwide. He noted that BSN’s mission goes beyond distributing the Bible to addressing the welfare and dignity of disadvantaged Nigerians.
Dare encouraged residents of the camps to remain hopeful, assuring them of God’s continued love and the organisation’s ongoing commitment.
Initiated in 2018, the Macedonian Call project has provided support to more than 50,000 people across IDP camps and informal settlements in Adamawa, Lagos, Benue, Edo, Kogi, the FCT and other parts of the country.
