ABUJA/Nigeria: Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has described the death of renowned business magnate, Dr. Emmanuel Isichei Ugochukwu Ojei, popularly known as Nuel Ojei, as a monumental loss to Anioma, Delta State and Nigeria at large.

Reacting to the passing of the celebrated entrepreneur, who died at the age of 74, Senator Nwoko said in a statement issued in Abuja that Dr. Ojei’s demise marked the end of a glorious era in Nigeria’s corporate and entrepreneurial landscape.

The Senator recalled that the late Dr. Ojei, an illustrious son of Issele-Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, distinguished himself as one of the most outstanding figures in Nigeria’s private sector, with decades of remarkable contributions to national economic growth and development.

Nwoko noted that as Founder and Chairman of Nuel Ojei Holdings (NOH), the late industrialist painstakingly built a formidable business empire with investments spanning banking, insurance, shipping, oil and gas, construction, telecommunications and the automobile industry.

He said these ventures played a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s economic development from the 1980s, creating wealth and providing employment opportunities for thousands of Nigerians.

Beyond his business accomplishments, the lawmaker said Dr. Ojei would be fondly remembered for his moral greatness, expressed through uncommon acts of kindness, mentorship and philanthropy that touched lives across the country.

“The passing of Chief Nuel Ojei has created a profound void in Nigeria’s socio-economic space. He was a household name in corporate Nigeria and will be remembered for his enduring legacy of enterprise, hard work and honest service to the nation.

He was deeply committed to public charity, empowered a generation of Nigerians and built bridges across communities nationwide. Nigeria has lost a truly illustrious Anioma son,” Nwoko said.

He extended his deepest condolences, on behalf of his family and associates, to the Ojei family, praying God to grant them the fortitude to bear the great loss and comfort them in this moment of grief.
