SAPELE/Nigeria: A prominent youth group in Delta Central, operating under the banner of Youths for Proactive Governance, has unanimously called on the Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, to seek re-election for a second term in 2027.
The endorsement followed a joint meeting of the group’s leadership drawn from the eight local government areas that make up the Delta Central Senatorial District. The meeting, which held recently in Adeje, Okpe Local Government Area, was presided over by the group’s President, Comrade Blessing Udoh, with Benjamin Egwe serving as Secretary.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the youths described Senator Dafinone as a performing first-time legislator who has demonstrated commitment, dedication and a clear passion for service to the people of Delta Central. They appealed to constituents across the district to grant the senator a second tenure to enable him consolidate on the achievements recorded during his first term.
According to the group, Dafinone has been proactive and effective at the National Assembly, sponsoring and supporting bills they described as people-oriented and reflective of the needs and aspirations of his constituents. They said his representation at the Red Chamber has been characterised by courage, clarity of purpose and a result-driven approach.
The youths also commended the senator for his empowerment initiatives and for consistently recommending qualified Urhobo youths for employment opportunities at various levels. They further applauded his role in facilitating promotions and recognition for deserving sons and daughters of the Urhobo Nation, particularly those from Delta Central, across different sectors.
“We, the youths of Delta Central, want to use this medium to, as a matter of urgency, call on Senator Ede Dafinone to recontest for a second tenure so that he can continue the good work God has entrusted into his hands for the benefit of his people,” the group said.
