
ASABA/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of a staff member of Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Ms Vivian Nkechika, describing her passing as a painful loss to the broadcast industry in Delta State.
In a condolence message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker said the development was particularly heartbreaking, coming barely weeks after the death of the Asaba Correspondent of The Punch newspaper, Mr. Mathew Ochei.
Guwor extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Vivian Nkechika, who hailed from Ekwuoma in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, noting that his thoughts and prayers were with them at this difficult moment.
He also commiserated with the Delta State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), as well as friends, associates, and colleagues of the deceased within the media fraternity.
“My colleagues and I are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Vivian Nkechika, a passionate and committed broadcast journalist who served the public with dedication and professionalism,” the Speaker said. “The Delta State House of Assembly mourns her demise and prays that God grants comfort to all who are grieving and eternal rest to her gentle soul.”
