WARRI/Nigeria: A Delta State–born human development advocate and peace ambassador, Sheriff Mulade, has commended Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, for what he described as significant infrastructural progress across major urban centres in the state.
Mulade, the Ibe-Sorimowei of the ancient oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area, praised the administration’s ongoing projects, characterising them as an “infrastructural revolution,” particularly in upland communities. He said the visible transformation in city centres reflected a deliberate commitment by the state government to modernise public infrastructure and stimulate economic growth.
While applauding the governor’s performance, the environmental rights advocate urged chairmen of the state’s 25 local government councils to emulate the development drive by initiating impactful projects in their respective jurisdictions. According to him, meaningful grassroots development is essential to ensure that residents outside major cities feel the benefits of governance.
He noted that many citizens still do not experience government interventions at the local level unless they travel to urban areas, stressing the need for councils to undertake people-oriented initiatives capable of boosting local economies and improving living standards.
Mulade also appealed to the governor to prioritise projects in riverine communities, citing the long-anticipated Ayakoromo Bridge and the proposed Burutu–Forcados–Ogulagha Road as critical infrastructure capable of unlocking economic potential and increasing internally generated revenue for the state.
“The council chairmen should be courageous and bold enough to embark on significant legacy, economy-driven projects in their various council areas rather than hiding under the governor’s achievements,” he said, adding that local governments possess sufficient resources to complement state efforts and leave lasting developmental footprints.
