National Postgraduate Medical College to Invest Prof. Ikefuna as 24th President

LAGOS/Nigeria: The National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria has announced the investiture of Prof. Anthony Nnaemeka Ikefuna as its 24th President.

Prof. Ikefuna, who was elected at the College’s 137th Governing Board Meeting held on December 5, 2025, will be formally invested on March 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the College premises.

A graduate of the University of Ibadan, Ikefuna completed his medical training on a Federal Government scholarship before proceeding to specialise in Paediatrics at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu.

He was appointed Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2011.

Within the College, he has held several key leadership roles, including Vice President and Chief Examiner of the Faculty of Paediatrics.

He also chaired the Quality Assurance Committee, the Disciplinary Committee, and the Senate Committee on Credentials and Fellowship Award.

Ikefuna has contributed significantly to medical scholarship, with over 150 peer-reviewed publications and supervision of more than 70 Fellowship dissertations.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the Nigerian Academy of Medicine.

The College congratulated him on his election and expressed confidence in his leadership as he assumes the new role.
